My name’s Rebecca and I’m originally from Nova Scotia, Canada. I came to the island of Oahu for work as an Au Pair here for a family with three little girls in Aina Haina. I heard about AccesSurf my first month here back in August of ‘22 when I was looking for volunteer opportunities in the community. I showed up nervous and super early and ended up jumping into check-in on my first day. AccesSurf welcomed me right away and I’ve never felt more at home than with this community. One DATB and I was hooked, I’ve been coming back ever since. The AccesSurf Ohana keeps my soul light and my heart happy.

My name’s Darroch, and I’m originally from Kalispell, Montana. I came to the island in 2019 while stationed on Kaneohe Bay. I heard about AccesSurf from Rebecca. Before AccesSurf, I had volunteered when I saw opportunities, but I realized this was different. When I showed up, I was welcomed by many people, and I quickly realized that it wasn’t just an organization—it was a whole community, which I am thrilled to be a part of. I don’t have a specific favorite memory; every day, in my interactions, everyone brings their own incredible experience. To the Access Surf Ohana, thank you for bringing me in and giving me a wealth of happy memories and experiences!
