Kaipo has been an extreme asset and wonderful part of our ‘ohana. He has been a crucial volunteer in our water safety at both Wounded Warrior and Day at the Beach. We love when he brings the whole fam to Day at the beach for some fun in the sun and we loved watching his son Corbin grow through the years.
Kaipo has brought many important people to our family that are now lifers of AccesSurf and we cant thank him enough. We will miss him and his family as they start a new adventure in Texas.

Tell us a little about yourself .
My name is Kaipo, I was born on Oahu. I like to surf, workout and trail run. Currently in Texas to start my next chapter after a 20 year career in the Air Force.
How did you hear about and when you did you start with Accessurf?
I learned of AccesSurf after participating in Autism skateboard program in November 2015. I took my kids to the next event and I have never looked back since.
What does AccesSurf mean to you and your ‘ohana?
AccesSurf means the world to me and family. The program not only gave my kids an amazing experience with some fantastic people but also gave me an outlet to help veterans. I try to spread the word about the program with everyone I meet.
Do you guys have a favorite AccesSurf memory?
It is difficult to narrow down the memories to just one so I will give you two. My favorite personal memory is the first time I rode a wave next to my son after he asked me to go out with him during a session where he was a participant. The joy on his face as we shared a wave together always brings a smile to my face. My other favorite memory was volunteering as a surf instructor on a Wounded Warrior event day. I took a warrior out for her very first wave, and to see her go from very hesitant to standing in one session was one of the best experiences out in the water.
