AccesSurf goes way beyond our events at the beach.
We love to see how our participants attitudes and confidence carry into their home and every day life.
Our friend Daniel Court is a shining reflection of that. We have LOVED watching Daniel grow (not just in height) through both surfing as well as his confidence in the water. He is positive, humble, and kind. And maybe… a future team member for our Hawaii Adaptive Surf Team?? Who knows what the future holds, but we are certain that Daniel is going places. Mahalo Daniel! Tell us a little about yourself.
I’m Daniel Court, I came from China and have been living in America for 4 years. The best part of being in Hawaii is to be able to surf. Surfing and biking are my hobbies. To build up my stamina for surfing I swim almost every day, and I feel stronger each day. I recently graduated from Kahuku High School, and am taking college classes.
How and when did you start with Accessurf?
My mom was researching adaptive sports opportunities before she even arrived in Hawaii. And when she found AccesSurf, she signed my brother up for this great opportunity. And that’s how I heard about AccesSurf. I started with AccesSurf in May of 2017, the same year I heard about AccesSurf. I really enjoy being on the surfboard.
What does AccesSurf mean to you?
AccesSurf has a lot of fantastic volunteers who are willing to help me to have great experiences. AccesSurf really built up my confidence in not only surfing but also other aspects of my life. It helps me to learn that if I can surf, I can do harder things.
What is your favorite AccesSurf memory?
From catching waves with constant assistance of the volunteers to catching waves by myself and with the volunteers.
